The Logitech Wave Keys
With my needs changing to a more typing-involved workload instead of gaming, I've been trying out different keyboard styles to see which ones sticks. I feel more comfortable and I must say the wave is definitely up there as one of my favorites! I never would have considered that I would enjoy using a compact keyboard as much as I do. I was always afraid that my hands would be too scrunched together but I must say the Wave Keys has made a believer outta me. I love how the keys are so quiet that it's scary making me feel like a keyboard assassin (hehehe).
Setting It Up
I have to say that I found the setup a little complicated which is weird for a dongle (bolt) connected wireless keyboard but It kinda was. I thought you would just be able to connect the dongle and then hit fn+P and it would auto connect but I was mistaken. I found that I had to download the Logi Options+ ( I already had it downloaded thanks MX 3S) and then hit the "+ Add Device". Once I was at that screen you hit the "Logi Bolt reciever Wave Keys", then you have to hold the connect button which I was trying to hold "fn" + "P" buttons but I found out through trial and error that it was the F1 button you had to hold! After all that you should be connected and ready to type! The neat thing is that you can connect through Bluetooth and save three different devices to the keyboard so you can switch between them easily!
Comfortability
The connected palm grip is a nice touch because I always find myself fiddling with the palm grip if it's separated trying to get it to be comfortable and stop moving. The memory foam feels great in the palm but how long it will hold only time will tell (I'll update it if I come across any issues). Typing on this keyboard is very comfortable, especially with the ergonomic wave they built into it I would say it's a little more comfortable than the split keyboard I was typing with before it. I still really love my split keyboards I think more for nostalgic reasons than anything but I feel very comfortable using the compact Wave.
Portability
The Logitech Wave is small enough that you're able to type with it on your lap with ease, so you can carry it around the house with you and use it with up to three saved devices which you can switch to by pressing F1-3. You may connect to these devices using the Bluetooth option or the Logi Bolt receiver. I also like that they went old-school with the batteries so you don't have to worry about continuously charging it all the time and the website says it should last for up to 3 years on those two AAA batteries.
Making It Your Own
With Logi Options+ you can customize it to fit any project you are currently working on! You can go through the software and customize the majority of the F buttons (F4-F12) as well as home, end, pg up, pg dn buttons and customize them to do different things or what they call Actions. There is also an option to set the F keys as Fn or media keys by pressing the Fn+Esc at the same time. This allows you to either use the F keys like they are defaulted to be or be able to use the custom settings that you can apply to them. There is also an option called Smart Actions in which you can set up so that once you hit the trigger (the button you set up for it) you can create a sequence of actions that it will automatically perform or just one action that is up to you and how you set it up!
The Good And The Bad
Let's cover the negatives first to get them outta the way. Some of the issues I have with the wave has a lot to do with the button layout, such as always accidentally hitting del instead of backspace, and I really don't like the arrow key placement. I'm also missing the number lock indicators on the keyboard itself which is a little weird, but the cap lock at least has a little light that appears on the button itself that tells you when it's on or off. Another issue I had with the Wave is that it was a little complicated to set up. It took me for a loop I even restarted my PC thinking maybe that would get it going. The last negative I'm going to bring up is that the icons on the keyboard looks like they are just stickers that were just slapped onto it to be honest.
Now to the fun stuff, the things I really like about the Logitech Wave Keys! For one I love the comfort and the ease of use that makes this keyboard really shine. The ergonomic wave that gives it its name really makes a difference to me and makes my typing feel so much smoother and more accurate! The quietness of the keys is excellent when you are trying to get a lot of work done and you don't wanna hear all that clacking of keys. The Logitech Wave Keys also have a little icon pop up on the screen whenever you hit the cap lock, number lock, or change the F keys that way you'll know what you turned on or off by looking at the screen. The last thing I want to talk about is the customizability that Logi Options + gives you which allows you the ability to make this keyboard into a productive and time-saving tool that will allow you to accomplish projects and work at a quicker pace (if you're into that kinda thing)!
Would I Buy It Again?
Knowing now what I know about the Logitech Wave Keys would I buy it again? That would be a resounding yes I would! I have found that the Wave has way more going for it than taking away from it, Plus I love using this little compact keyboard! I think that anyone who does a lot of typing or content creation would absolutely love the Wave. I know I do, but let me know what you think of the Logitech Wave Keys in the comments below!
